What SkyStory is

SkyStory is a flight storytelling product. We show live aircraft positions aggregated from public ADS-B networks, enrich them with publicly available registry and airport metadata, and generate readable stories with AI. We do not own the sky, the airplanes, or exclusive rights to the underlying position feeds.

Data we process

• Flight positions and metadata — Mode-S hex, callsign, altitude, speed, route hints, and similar fields from open live feeds and public enrichment sources. This is operational aviation data already broadcast or published, not private passenger information.
• AI stories — When you open a flight story or chat, we may send grounded flight facts to an AI provider to produce prose. Prompts are built from live tools, not from your private messages beyond what you type in chat.
• Account email — If you sign in (optional), we store the email you provide via our auth provider for magic-link authentication and optional synced watchlists.
• Browser storage — Without an account (or when sync is unavailable), your watchlist and theme preference may live in localStorage. Chat may keep a short thread in sessionStorage for the current tab.

Cookies and similar tech

We use essential storage for theme and optional auth sessions. We do not run advertising trackers or sell personal data. If you enable account sync, the auth provider may set session cookies or tokens required to keep you signed in.

Location

“Near me” and locate features use your device location only when you grant permission in the browser. Coordinates are used to center the map or search nearby flights; they are not sold.

What we do not do

• We do not sell your personal information.
• We do not claim proprietary ownership of public ADS-B position streams.
• We do not provide passenger manifests, booking data, or private operator records.

Retention and control

Clear site data in your browser to remove local watchlists and theme settings. To delete an account and server-side watchlist rows, email us from the address you used to sign in. Live flight caches are short-lived operational data.
